About our data
Where our data comes from
The free check covers 71 crops, 135 pesticide products and 8 markets. This page lists every source behind a result, what we take from it and how fresh it is.
Sources
| What | Source | How fresh |
|---|---|---|
| EU residue limits and EU approval status | EU Pesticides Database (European Commission) | Updated automatically every week. Our current copy is dated 30 Oct 2026 and holds 26,999 residue limits and the approval status of 1,485 substances. |
| Waiting periods (pre-harvest intervals) and active ingredients | Product labels, gathered into the AfriCompliance reference list | Checked by hand, last reviewed October 2026. The label on the product you bought always comes first - local labels can differ. |
| Kenya: products withdrawn or restricted | Pest Control Products Board (PCPB) - 2025 review and the long-standing banned list | Review of June 2025, checked October 2026. Shown when the farm is in Kenya, or when no country is set (as on the homepage check). |
| China: banned and restricted pesticides | Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA) lists | Checked October 2026. China also has its own residue limits (GB 2763), which we do not hold. |
| US: revoked residue limits | US EPA tolerances (40 CFR part 180) | A short list of substances whose US limits were revoked. For everything else, check the EPA tolerance for your crop. |
| Export procedures by country | Official agency websites - see each country guide for its sources | Checked October 2026. |
What we do not cover yet
- UK, Japan, Australia, UAE and Saudi Arabia: we do not hold their own limits or approvals yet. For these markets the result shows the EU limit as a guide - their limits can be higher or lower. Ask your buyer or an accredited lab.
- China and US limits: we show banned or revoked substances only, not each crop limit.
- National registration outside Kenya: check that a product is registered in your own country (see your country guide for the agency).
- Residues on your produce: a waiting period met lowers the risk but proves nothing. Only a laboratory residue test shows what is on the crop.
Your own records
Spray, fertilizer, harvest and lab entries are typed in by the farm or its partners. Records and certificates from AfriCompliance are your own declaration with a fingerprint that shows later changes - not an official certificate.
